Punjab Pradesh Congress president and former national cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu claims that Before joining the Congress, he had met with Prashant Kishore (PK), more than 60 times. “Prashant met me more than 60 times to get me to join the Congress,” he told in a news conference.
Sidhu, a former BJP MP from Amritsar, joined the Congress in January 2016 before the Punjab Assembly polls. He resigned as an MP six months ago. Sidhu claimed that PK had met him several times in the meantime. Incidentally, after Sidhu announced his resignation from the BJP at that time, he initially hinted at joining Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party.
“At that time, Prashant told me, ‘Congress will not get more than 30-35 seats in Punjab,’ ‘Sidhu said. But if you join the party, at least 7-8 percent of the swings will be in favor of the Congress. ” Sidhu won the seat from Amritsar-East and became a minister.
Sidhu said, “At that time, Amarendra Singh (former chief minister and Congress leader) did not want me to join the Congress.” But at the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party chief told him to campaign only without offering to contest the polls.
