Two days ago, the Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Maitra, was in a frenzy when he joined the Congress along with other local parties in Goa, on the issue of defeating the BJP. Today, Congress has been vocal about the issue. It has been reported that Congress has no question of forming an alliance with any party other than the Goa Forward Party.
It has been said about the Trinamool Congress that they have come to Goa to share the votes. P Chidambaram, a veteran Congress leader in charge of Goa, also said that if anyone wanted to support the Congress in defeating the BJP, there was nothing to say no. When a ‘formal’ proposal is made, it can be considered.
All in all, Sonia Gandhi’s party has given some mixed signals before the Goa polls. However, according to political sources, in reality, the possibility of the Trinamool Congress joining hands with the Congress to contest the Goa polls is not the same.
It is also being seen as an attempt not to shoulder the responsibility of splitting the opposition vote. Today, Chidambaram said, “Congress is capable of defeating BJP. But if anyone wants to support Congress, who am I to say no? Let’s see what the official proposal is.”
