His name has already figured in the ‘aggrieved’ G23 list demanding reforms in the governance of the All India Congress. This time, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor had to face the Show cause from Kerala congress.” The state Congress president has issued a clear warning that the MP will be in the party if he follows the party’s line. The reason for Tharoor’s problem with this is, however, not a conflict in the party. On the contrary, at the center of the controversy is the question of the position of the Congress and opposition alliance UDF in Kerala around a development project. Tharoor commented that the position is not ‘reasonable’, and that’s where the Congress leadership in the state is furious.

The controversy over the ‘Silverline’ rail project is currently raging in Kerala. The Left government in Kerala is looking to start work on a 529.45 km fast-track rail project from Thiruvananthapuram in the south to Kasargod in the north. Kerala Rail Development Corporation Limited (K-Rail), a joint organization formed by the Railways and the State Government, is in charge of implementing the project. The cost of the project is around Rs 1 lakh crore. The Congress and UDF are opposing the project citing the impact on the economy and the environment.

Tharoor, however, has not yet opened his mouth in response to the warning. He only said that he is in favor of rationalizing the whole thing.
