Before the West Bengal election, the Calcutta High Court has asked the West Bengal State Election Commission to install CCTV surveillance cameras in all the poll booths. Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice R. Bharadwaj have asked the poll booths to maintain the surveillance during the 144-ward KMC election which will be held on the 19th of December 2021.

The High Court has also asked the polling booths to maintain a strong and secured room for storing the Electronic Voting Machines.

According to sources, Devdutta Maji a BJP worker appealed before the High Court to take the step of installing surveillance cameras in all the polling booths. To maintain peace and to avoid any disruptions, the High Court has accepted the petition. Before the voting begins, all the booths are expected to take measures and follow the order of the Calcutta High Court.

A BJP worker appealed to the Supreme Court for the deployment of the central forces in the polling booths on the 19th of December. However, the petition was not entertained by the Supreme Court, the BJP worker was asked to appeal to the Calcutta High Court for such relief.
