According to a police report, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wife Jashodaben was injured in a car accident in which her relative was killed near Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh. Jashodaben was traveling with four other people and their car rammed into a truck near Chittorgarh during which she suffered some mild injuries. The Police has arrested the truck driver and investigation is going on. According to the report, the SUV in which Jashodaben was traveling with four others crashed into a truck at 10 am morning near Katunda. Total six people were traveling in the vehicle which was damaged beyond repair during the accident.
Jashodaben, a retired schoolteacher, after attending a function in Kota was traveling with the family from Atru in Baran to Unjha in Gujrat. According to a senior officer- Parsoli Police Station- Jashodaben was returning to Unjha after attending a wedding ceremony in Kota, Rajasthan, when her SUV rammed into a truck at 10 am morning in which one person was killed and others suffered minor injuries.
Circle officer, Begun, Rakesh Rajora said that police found out during preliminary investigation that the SUV was behind the truck when the accident happened. The truck driver was driving recklessly and he suddenly steered the truck to the side, the SUV could not control itself and rammed into the back of the truck.
He further added that during the accident, cousin of Jashodaben- Basantbhai Modi was killed. The wife of deceased, Vimlaben was also traveling with him and she sustained some minor injuries.
The Police said, cousin of Jashodaben, Mr. Basant Bhai Modi died during his treatment in the hospital. The accident happened around 10 am in the Parsoli Police Station area when the family was returning home after attending a wedding in Kota. As the truck driver suddenly pulled to the sides applying break, the car crashed into it, police said.
Additional superintendent of police, Udaipur, Harsh Ratnoo told The Indian Express that there was a commando with the group who has also been injured and is admitted to a hospital in Udaipur. Jashodaben sustained some minor injuries and returned to Gujrat in the evening.
The Constable Rama Ram of Parsoli Police station said that the truck driver- Pooran Yadav from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand- has been detained and he is currently under investigation.
Police have lodged a case against Pooran Yadav under 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code. Pooran Yadav was delivering a consignment of iron pipes to Ahmedabad.
Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot tweeted, “Sad to know about the accident in #Chittorgarh in which #Jashodaben and her family got injured and one person died… Hope and pray for injured to recover soon.”
