Akhilesh Yadav, Chief of Samajwadi Party and former Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister voiced his concerns with two political parties while attending a political rally in Mumbai on Sunday. He accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parties of their divisive form of politics. Yadav declared that if the current government continues in power, the consequences will be harmful to India. He suggested that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s government be ousted.

Since 1998, the BJP has ruled India under the banner of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Its first stint was from 1998 to 2014 under the leadership of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The second leg (2014 to date) is under Narendra Modi with the BJP having the majority of the positions in the NDA.

Accusations by Akhilesh Yadav

Yadav stated that when Mod’s government came into power, it promised every Indian Rs 15 lakh in their accounts. The BJP government did honor their pledge and have instead resorted to divisive politics. He added that the BJP is also wrecking up communal issues in order to distract the people from more pressing issues such as farmers’ economic losses leading to suicides, starvation, and unemployment among others.

The former UP Chief Minister leveled blames against the RSS and BJP for creating a divide between Hindus and Muslims. His allegations stemmed from the rift being created in the state due to the decision to construct Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The proposed construction site hosted Babri Masjid where disputing Muslims propose the construction of Babri Mosque.  He also hinted that the two parties are creating divisions between castes, a move trying to distort the doctrines of the Constitution.

Yadav’s Achievements and Ambitions

During the rally in Mumbai, Yadav told the party’s followers that while he was Chief Minister for Uttar Pradesh, he made several achievements. He claimed to have got good quality roads built. Roads that could land an Air Force Plane. He slandered BJP led Maharashtra State alleging that they could not build such good roads despite their booming economy.

He added that the Maharashtra government plans to build a grand memorial for the warrior king Shivaji in the Arabian Sea. Yadav discredited the idea and claimed that when his party comes back in power, it will allocate thousands of acres for a grand park dedicated to Shivaji.

The Samajwadi Party chief confirmed that his party will dethrone BJP during the UP Lok Sabha elections in 2019 and UP Assembly elections in 2022.
