Today National Congress workers celebrate their victory in the by-elections in Rajasthan which were called after the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers, in the three seats in Ajmer, Alwar, and Mandalgarh. The National Congress won the Lok Sabha constituencies of Alwar, Ajmer, and Mandalgarh Assembly seat in the state Rajasthan where by-elections were held on Monday in this week. All 3 seats are linked to Rahul Gandhi’s top lieutenants- Mr. Sachin Pilot, Mr. CP Joshi and Mr. Jitendra Bhanwar.
Indian National Congress president Mr. Rahul Gandhi tweeted “Well done team of Rajasthan Congress! We are proud of each and every one of you. Really this is the rejection of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by the people of the state”. It was not expected by the Congress. The Congress candidates have established an unassailable lead in those three areas with the party set to deal a huge thrust to the state’s ruling party BJP which had won in 2014.
Till the last count up to 6:00 pm, Mr. Karan Singh Yadav has won the Alwar seat with a huge margin of 196719 votes defeating Mr. Jaswant Singh Yadav of BJP. Mr. Karan and Mr. Jaswant have got 642031 and 445312 votes respectively in those areas. In Ajmer area, after completion of 91.99 % of votes counting, Congress’ Mr. Raghu Sharma is leading with a margin of more than 80 thousand votes. Mr. Raghu has secured 563878 votes till 6:00 PM while his nearest rival Mr. Ramswaroop Lamba from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured only 483819 votes till now. Mr. Sachin Pilot, Congress Chief of Rajasthan thanked voters of the state for their support to Congress.
On the other hand, BJP leader Mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya said: “We will analyze the reasons of our failure in this by polls, but by polls don’t reflect the full picture”. Both the party BJP and the Congress prepped for the elections as they would for a full election, with Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Congress leader Mr. Sachin Pilot campaigning hard. The Congress also accused the ruling BJP of trying to polarize their voters and doing nothing to stop attacks on Muslims in a few incidents mostly linked to cow vigilantes.
Today Mr. Sachin Pilot said these polls mark Congress’ comeback trail in a big State at a very important situation in the national politics. He also said, “In 2014 the Congress failed to win a single seat in the state but this time the trend shows that the people of Rajasthan have given their blessings to the Congress party and have rejected the Raje government and its policies. People have realized that the politics of polarization doesn’t work in the Indian Democracy”.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vasundhara Raje went all out in all their campaign to retain the seats, with the CM dividing her valuable time between Ajmer and Alwar district. President of Congress Mr. Rahul Gandhi hailed the unit of state for its attractive show for 2 Lok Sabha and 1 Assembly seats, calling the outcome of it as a “rejection” of the ruling BJP by the people of the state.
