The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is secretly training Ukrainian troops to enhance its ability to fight Russia, reportedly on Thursday (January 14). It report says Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces have been brought under training. Ukrainian intelligence members are also being trained.
As per the report, the United States has been conducting the training since 2015 at a secret base in the southern United States. It has also been cited that five former U.S. intelligence and national security officials are involved in the operation,
The former official said that the training program is teaching how to kill Russian citizens. He said that if Russia invaded Ukraine, these trained people would act as guerrilla commanders there.
“We have been training these people for the last eight years,” said a former CIA official. They have become really good fighters. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine would have a profound effect on the CIA’s program.
The former CIA official said the training would enable members of Ukraine’s special unit to become more efficient and capable and would be able to repel Russian troops. The CIA’s training program seeks to enhance the intelligence capabilities of Ukraine’s military.
